Join us at the Perth film screening of Matt Ottley's latest work, The Tree of Ecstasy and Unbearable Sadness.
The Tree of Ecstasy and Unbearable Sadness is a groundbreaking, large-scale multi-modal project weaving together the worlds of literature, music and visual art in the poignant story of one boy’s journey into mental illness. A lifetime in the making and five years in the creating, this astonishing new work by award-winning author/artist/composer Matt Ottley is a magnum opus in every conceivable way.
The film invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and immerse themselves in a world of beauty and wonder.
At the heart of the film is a 50-minute orchestral work performed by the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno and tenor Ben Reynolds. The music has been written/orchestrated by Matt Ottley with guest composition by Alf Demasi.
Introduced by Jennie Orchard, and a Q&A with Matt Ottley by Sarah Dyson following the film.
