Kristy Nita Brown


Kristy Nita Brown is a dynamic children's book author, educator, and creative entrepreneur who independently publishes books. Her debut title, Looking for Lily, was shortlisted for the 2023 West Australian Young Readers’ Book Award and earned second place in the 2022 Children and Young Adult Aspiring Author Competition. Her follow-up book, Mavey and Beth’s Double Act: Where’s My Whistle?, was featured at the 2024 CBCA A Night With Our Stars event and Scribblers Festival. In 2024, Kristy was awarded a Creativity for Schools Grant by the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries to deliver the Book Builders Challenge in primary schools across Western Australia. This innovative program not only develops students’ practical writing skills but also engages them in illustration, editing, printing, publishing, marketing, and distribution. Kristy was also a participant in the 2024 Path to Published mentorship program, the SEW Arts teaching artists training program, and Form’s Creative Schools program. She holds a Bachelor of Education, a Bachelor of Media Studies with a major in film and television production, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and has instructional intelligence facilitator status. With over a decade of experience as a media lecturer at TAFE, Kristy brings a wealth of knowledge to her work in education and the arts. Kristy is available to deliver workshops in your library or school.
