At the Centre
Visual Literacy and Writing workshops
- A 2-hour workshop is charged at $15 per student.
- Maximum of 35 students per class.
- Maximum of two classes per session.
- Minimum charge of $300 per workshop (equivalent of 20 students at $15 per head).
- If you can plan your visit to The Literature Centre using public transport. The Fremantle train station is an enjoyable 15 walk from the Centre. Transperth can provide you with information on transport costs and help you plan your route. At your School
Visual Literacy and Writing workshops
$350* - 1 hr workshop (includes travel*).
$600* - 2 hr workshop (including travel*).
$850 *per day (max four sessions in price and including travel*).

*Please note under the terms of our new service level agreement with Department of Education we are currently reviewing our charges and private and independent schools may be charged at a higher rate.
*Metropolitan School – as per the Department of Education boundaries (North = Yanchep, South = Mandurah/Peel region) - see map on our website. If the school falls outside the metropolitan boundaries, in addition to the workshop fee, travel will be charged at 80 cents per km from TLC to the school and return (based on Google maps data).
More Information
Students should not be shown the focus text(s) before participating in a session.
To fulfill the Department of Education Excursion procedure, for duty of care, each class must be accompanied by their class by a teacher.
Please note the recommended ratio of supervising teachers/parent helpers:
Kindy - Year 3: 1 adult: 5 students
Year 4 - Year 12: 1 adult: 10 students
Home School: 1 adult educator per family group
Invoicing: We cannot amend invoicing numbers on or after the workshop day. If student numbers vary on the day from those booked, we will not be able to reduce our fee. Payment is required within seven days following the workshop.
A full cancellation fee will be charged if notice given is less than five weeks before the visit.
Author & Illustrator School Visits
- Individual rates apply, and GST may be applicable. Contact our Creative Learning Associate, Aimee - aimee@thelitcentre.org.au
- TLC charges an additional 15 % of the overall fee for admin and booking costs.
- Travel will be charged additionally at a rate of 85 cents per km from the artist's home to school and return.
- School to provide access to tea/coffee during breaks, and a light lunch if applicable. Special dietary requirements will be confirmed at the time of booking. A maximum of $65 per diem for metro and $85 for regional visits will be charged if meals are not provided – based on ATO rates.
- If a visit falls over two or more days in a regional or rural location, the cost of accommodation and meals is to be paid for by the organising school.
- Maximum student numbers and duration are to be discussed with individual authors or illustrators.
Professional Learning
1 hour session - $30 per teacher
2 hour session - $60 per teacher
4 hour session - $120 per teacher
- A minimum spend of $300 applies and rates include travel to metropolitan schools.
